Don’t Let Importers Undermine Buy America!

Tell your state’s governor and transportation officials to fully enforce the Build America, Buy America regulations included in the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law.

Editor’s note: Alliance for American Manufacturing President Scott Paul sent the following message to our grassroots supporters on Thursday, urging them to raise their voice in support of Buy America. While President Biden unveiled new Buy America standards in his State of the Union address on Tuesday night, importers and special interest groups are working behind-the-scenes to undermine Buy America. As Scott Paul explains below, we can’t let them succeed.

Elizabeth,

We cannot miss this once-in-a-generation chance to strengthen American manufacturing.

Right now, construction crews are getting to work on rebuilding our infrastructure, thanks to funding from the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law. And there’s a requirement in the law that this new infrastructure be Made in America, from iron and steel to electric vehicle chargers and broadband fiber-optic cable.

But importers and other special interests are working behind-the-scenes to undermine these Buy America requirements. And if we’ve learned anything over the past few years, it’s that the United States cannot afford to send tax dollars overseas when our own industrial supply chains are in desperate need of repair.

TAKE ACTION: Tell your state’s transportation officials to enforce the Build America, Buy America requirements in our infrastructure laws!

Americans strongly support Buy America. A new poll found 83% of registered voters agreed taxpayer money spent on infrastructure should go toward American-made products.

If importers succeed in their plan to undermine Buy America – and they just might – we‘ll miss out on a historic, once-in-a-generation opportunity to strengthen American manufacturing, create good jobs, and rebuild supply chains.

I know you understand the importance of Buy America. That’s why I’m counting on you to act!

Tell state transportation officials: Make sure American infrastructure is American-made!

Thanks,

Scott Paul
President
Alliance for American Manufacturing
